OCT Prescription Drug Benefits

CVS Caremark®

The Fund uses CVS Caremark® as the Plan’s Prescription Benefit Manager (PBM) to provide most participants their Prescription Drug benefits listed below. The Plan uses ExpressScripts as its PBM to provide the Prescription Drug benefits to Participants in Local 20 Plan 1 (formerly Plan 5).

The Plan generally covers drugs prescribed by your Physician or Dentist for FDA-approved drugs requiring a written prescription and dispensed by a licensed pharmacist. Such drugs as antibiotics and anti-inflammatories, maintenance medications to treat chronic conditions such high cholesterol and high blood pressure, insulin and insulin injection supplies and antigens among many others. Please note that test strips and lancets are considered Durable Medical Equipment and covered under the Medical portion of your benefit.

Always show your CVS Caremark or ExpressScripts identification card when filling or refilling your prescriptions at your local pharmacy. When filling a prescription, you are responsible for a small co-pay as listed in the Summary of Benefits and Coverage (SBC) which is included in your annual enrollment packet or can be found on the Documents page of our website.

Mandatory Generic Prescription Drug Program

The program requires that generic drugs be dispensed when available. The only exception to this rule is when your physician specifically indicates to dispense the prescription as written. If you choose a brand name prescription drug when a generic drug is available, you will be responsible for the difference between the generic drug cost and the brand name drug cost.

Maintenance Choice® Program

Maintenance Choice helps keep your medications as affordable as possible. But you may need to make a few changes to enjoy these savings. Choose how to get your 90-day supplies. Pick up at any CVS Pharmacy or get delivery from CVS Caremark Mail Service Pharmacy.

Make sure your medication is covered

Start filling medications you take regularly (such as asthma or high blood pressure medications) in 90-day supplies at CVS Pharmacy® or CVS Caremark® Mail Service Pharmacy. If you fill in 30-day supplies or at another pharmacy, you’ll pay more for your medication and miss out on savings.

How to start saving with 90-day supplies

If you’re filling in 30-day supplies or at another pharmacy, you’ll need to transfer your prescriptions. Don’t worry, we make it easy.
